Our story

Built by a house-sitter, for house-sitters.

Housitters started with Elad Laor, who has been house-sitting since 2021 and spent a year writing a monthly column about it for Haaretz.

Along the way he kept hearing the same frustration: Facebook groups are free but chaotic, and the polished platforms charge a yearly fee. So he built the tool the community was missing: searchable, organized, and free.

We’re early, and that’s the point.

FAQ

Good questions, honest answers.

Yes — completely. No subscription, no booking fee. The community works because the exchange is mutual.

Every member verifies their email and builds a public profile, and both sides review each other after every sit. Read profiles and reviews, chat as much as you like, and meet (or video-call) before you hand over any keys.

Most hosts have pets, and most sitters love them. Cats and dogs are the most common; everyone’s expectations are explicit on the listing.

Fully bilingual — English and Hebrew, with full RTL support.

No. Housitters connects people; each sit is arranged directly between members. Agree on expectations in writing, and check that your own home insurance covers someone staying in your home.
